What are Reformer Classes?

Reformer classes are group sessions that are performed on a single piece of Pilates equipment - the Reformer. There are plenty of Pilates machines (trapeze table, spine corrector, the barrel to name a few), however due to it’s versatility and ability to provide a great workout the Reformer is the most used by instructors. Reformer Pilates Classes are very popular and have gained massive numbers worldwide over the last 5-10 years. But don’t get caught thinking that Pilates or Reformers are a new fad - they have been around for over 100 years! At Bay City Health in Geelong, we have a maximum of 6 reformers enabling our instructors to keep the movements of participants at a really high quality without compromising safety. The versatility of the Reformer means that virtually anyone can participate in the classes. Being spring loaded, there is no jarring type movements which is ideal for those suffering from arthritis or joint related conditions. Conversely, by modifying the spring tension we can can make the exercises/movements extremely challenging.
