Painful Knee Program
What is the Painful Knee Program?
The Painful Knee Program is a health program consisting of a sequence of manual therapy and tailor-made exercise sessions dedicated to those with chronic knee issues.
This program was created due to the sheer number of people who have differing levels of knee pain that can affect their ability to perform regular activities of daily living.
About the knee
The knee is a hinge joint between the 2 longest bones of the body - the femur and the tibia - that also includes the floating bone called the patella (also known as the knee cap). Although it looks like quite a simple joint, it is in fact one of the more complex joints of the body due to the vast amount of strong ligamentous structures, tendons and thicker than normal cartilage called the meniscus. These structures are designed to provide maximum stability to the knee whilst allowing for the flexion and extension movements.

What to expect…
Follow the below diagram summarising the key points that you’ll go through as part of the program:
What happens once the group of 10 sessions are over?
Once the initial 10 pack has finished we don’t just leave you and forget about you. Based on your goals and how your case manager feels you are progressing, there are a few different pathways to choose from. What we don’t want to see is someone make improvements and just fall away - rather the aim is to continue to improve. Thankfully, we have multiple options for clients to transition into including:
More 1:1 sessions
2:1 semi-private sessions
4:1 small group sessions
Reformer Classes
Generally, what we would recommend is to transition into 2+ sessions a week in either the 2:1 or the 4:1 small group classes. That way you get the benefits of multiple sessions per week with a more helpful price point.
And don’t forget, if you are getting a lot out of the Osteo sessions they are always available if you need!
